With Everything Going On.....

I find myself missing my mom more and more.  It was times like these when I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel that I could always give her a call and she would pull me back down to earth and give me that gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) nudge.  She always knew just what i needed to hear to get my butt out of the depression and back on track.  Whether it was kind words or a dose of tough love, she always knew just how to get through to me.  I miss her simple country girl ways, her optimism, her strength, her unconditional love....

she looks so tiny in that chair!

from the stories i was told, this was a doll my grandfather bought my mom just because it was as big as she was.  to hear family tell it, she was never without it.  her dad was always that way, loved to spoil his kids, and later his grandkids.

mom on her wedding day....so elegant!

guess this is where i get my tomboy from!  yep, my mom played with trucks too!

the man in front is my grady (my mom's dad) the woman directly behind him is my granny (my mom's mom) my mom is in the black and white shirt on the top right and the lady on the left is my aunt (mom's baby sister).  sadly, the only one left living from this pic is my aunt.  RIP Grady and Granny.

mom and dad showing off their catch!  this is one of those pics where if you look at me you can see i look so much like my mom.

not sure who everyone is in this pic, but it was from mom and dad's wedding reception i think

ok, my family takes creepy pics, but that is my great grandfather's grave.  the one with the long pigtails is me, the boy is my older brother, the woman at the top left is my mom, and the top right is my great grandmother

a cake i baked and my brother decorated for my mom's b-day one year.  love this pic of my mom, it's just so her.  simple, happy, loving...

Back In The Saddle Again...

Well, because I am so easily distracted busy, this blog has somewhat died.  well, you know what.... I always wanted to bring the dead back to life so here it is!  I am officially going to try to get off my butt back in the habit of updating this thing on a regular basis.  I can't guarantee i will do wonderfully at it for a bit because we are getting ready to move, but i will at least pretend to try.  thanks to seeing a friend's devotion to her blog and enjoying everything she posts, i am going to try to get going with this again.  so, for your viewing pleasure here are a few random pics to hold you over till i start posting for real again!

Too Long and Not Long Enough!!

ok, it has been wayyy too long since i have updated one here.  Junior dude got glasses and looks sooo handsome in them!
We are hoping that him wearing them for a few months wil show improvement in the muscle problems in his eyes and we can avoid surgery on them.  he goes back to the eye doc in a bit to see where we go from there.  lets pray it shows improvement!!

on a more somber note, on December 20, 2009 my grandmother passed away.  She was gone way too soon, but she has joined her husband and her daughter in heaven as guardian angels for the family...I MISS YOU GRANNY!!

Back to the happy, Alan turned 11 in December and is growing into the best young man a mom could ever hope for.  polite, loving, compassionate, and just goofy.  he's got it all!

We got Junior's 2 year old pics bac finally and man, he is a handsome little cowboy!  gotta give the kudos to daddy for picking the boots, hat, belt, and buckle.  you would never guess, we bought this shirt before he was even born!  he finally grew into it!!

One last update and that is on the soon to be newest member of the denton family on the way!  we have officially found out squiggles is a boy and his due date has changed again!  he is now due around may 17, 2010....hmmm, will he wait or follow his brother and show up early. oh, and he now has a name...... Richard William Denton!!

well, i think those are the main points in life right now!  will spare you the boring nitpicking for now!!

First the Cute, then the serious....

this is before the much needed haircut....

this is after the much needed haircut...

What happened to my baby???  He's all grown up looking now.

ok, now that we have the cute factor working above, on to the serious stuff.  Junior has some issues with his right eye and eyelid and will most likely be having surgery and Jimmy Sr. has a lump that he is having a cat scan to dtermine what and how bad it is.  please keep us all in your prayers.....

Another Day Of Firsts....

Well, started out today with getting to hear the new baby's heartbeat for the first time!  Affectionately refered to as squiggles till we find out the sex, the little one is thumping away and we hit the twelve week mark!!  Junior had another first today.  You see, last week when he had his two year checkup and shots his doc gave him a coupon for a free ice cream cone from DQ.  Well, he had always shared with one of us nad never had a while one of his very own to eat as he pleased.  Mommy and Daddy finally got over the fear of ice cream everywhere and sticky mess phobias and let him have at it.  other than one splat on the pants and one on the shirt, he did extreemly well.  Below is a shot of the sugar induced sticky mess goofball coming right at the camera!  These are the moments we will treasure, and the reason I carry my camera everywhere.

On a more somber note, please keep Junior's uncle Bobby in your prayers as he faces medical problems and surgery tomorrow.....

The Toy Box Blowup!

ok, so i never knew what i put my parents through with not cleaning my room till i had kids of my own.  why is it that as a kid we never care how messy our room is, but as a parent we look into the space that used to be a room that is now where the toy box threw up and just cringe?  is there something in our genes that changes and makes us not be able to stand a messy kids room???  well, after dealing with the disaster for a few days, this morning i decided it was time to drag junior to his room and help him get the mess under control, or at least to the point where we could put him to bed without spraining an ankle or impaling our foot on the random toy!  no big deal, his room's not that big and he doesn't have that many toys.... until you factor in the other stuff that had been randomly drug into his room that no one knows why it is there except him, and he ain't telling!  in the process, i will say he did amazingly well with a little encouragement at getting everything picked up.  what shocked me is what we found.  one of my shoes, a missing remote, and empty 12-pack soda box, pieces of a magazine, a torn up gift bag, an envelope from my mail that was post marked two years ago (don't have a clue where that came from), and a plethora of other random stuff.  ok, so i have to say this now..........

Mom, Dad, I am soooo sorry i never would clean my room!  I totally get what you were going through back then!!
